Fudge Nut Bars - Jason Kampwerth
This recipe is from Jason Kampwerth’s grandmother, Bonnie Chase.
Ingredients
Base
1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups oats
Chocolate Mixture
1 1/2 squares semi-sweet baking chocolate
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
Base
Mix butter and sugar until smooth.
Add vanilla and eggs. Mix.
Stir in flour, salt, and baking soda.
Add oats and mix well.
Press 3/4 of the mixture into a well-greased cookie sheet.
Chocolate Mixture
In a double boiler, melt chocolate and butter.
Add condensed milk, vanilla, salt, and nuts.
Pour over the pressed batter.
Dot the remaining cookie batter mixture on top of the chocolate mixture.
Bake at 325 degrees F (165 C) for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.
